Unitron delivers bright new thinking in essential hearing

The proven technologies in Shine™ make effective hearing accessible to all

March 1, 2011 – Kitchener, Ontario, Canada - Unitron today announced the introduction of Shine™, a hearing instrument that is completely changing the typical assumptions around the essential category. Built around the philosophy that you shouldn’t have to choose between hearing instrument performance and affordability, Shine offers signature features typically reserved for more advanced level hearing instruments and options to easily fit a wide range of hearing loss.

Signature features at the essential level
Shine is the only hearing instrument in the essential category to offer signature features that have been consistently proven to increase listening comfort and hearing success. Speech enhancement LD and AntiShock™ provide improved clarity and ease of listening, while adaptive directional microphones effectively address the number one complaint of hearing instrument wearers: listening in noise1. Within Shine, these technologies are named the TriVantage features because they give hearing instrument wearers a distinct edge to hear more of what they want.

TriVantage features are proven to help, time and again
The TriVantage features deliver an advanced feature mix to the essential hearing instrument level. Internal trials have consistently revealed impressive levels of wearer preference in relation to these signature features:

  • Speech enhancement LD - 91% find soft speech easier to understand with
    speech enhancement LD ‘on’
  • AntiShock™ - 87% find impulse sounds more comfortable with AntiShock ‘on’
  • Adaptive directional microphones – 90% prefer adaptive directional over fixed
microphones when trying to hear speech in background noise

Fits a wide range of hearing loss
A range of standard and high power BTE (Behind-the-Ear), custom product options and an ultra-small open fit BTE allow hearing healthcare professionals much flexibility in fitting most hearing losses. There is also an option for 8 bands of frequency shaping resolution, allowing for better personalization of Shine to the unique realities of each client’s hearing loss.

“Many companies make their hearing instruments value priced by scaling back on features,” says Bruce Brown, Vice President of Marketing, Unitron. “We took a different approach with Shine, offering proven technologies that you would typically only find in more advanced hearing instruments. The fact that you can also fit virtually any hearing loss with Shine means that there is now a viable option on the market that lets everyone hear their very best.”

Shine will be available in early December 2010. Please contact your local representative for availability in your market.
