During the day – hearing instruments are in use

  • An incoming call is detected by the telephone detector and sends a wireless signal to the Smart Alert remote
  • The telephone icon on the remote illuminates and the remote vibrates
  • The remote sends a non-urgent beep to the hearing instruments
  • The alert is stopped with a press of the acknowledge button

At night – hearing instruments are not in use

  • Smoke or fire is detected in the home by the smoke detector
  • The smoke detector emits an alarm sound and sends a wireless signal to the Smart Alert remote in its nightstand charger
  • The remote's smoke icon illuminates, and the bed shaker is activated
  • The alert is stopped only when the source of the alarm is addressed

For those with even just a moderate hearing loss, the potential for harm can be even greater because the number-one preventive measure - smoke detectors – aren’t effective if they can’t be heard. Hearing healthcare professionals have a unique opportunity to counsel clients on effective fire safety strategies.
